Walka Talka is made by Wickd Smart LLC, a one-person software company in Virginia. By using the app, you agree to these terms. "I" below is that one person, acting for Wickd Smart LLC.
Walka Talka records dog walks you choose to start and lets people you invite follow those walks while they are happening. It can nudge you if you stop moving for a while, and tell your lookouts if you don't answer.
Walka Talka is not an emergency service, a medical device, or a personal safety guarantee. It cannot call for help, it cannot reach anyone who has their phone off or notifications muted, and it depends entirely on GPS, cellular data and push delivery, all of which fail routinely and without warning. Do not rely on it as your only safety measure. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
You may only invite someone to watch your own walks. You must not use this app to monitor another person's location without their knowledge and ongoing consent, and you must not install it on, or configure it for, a device belonging to someone else in order to track them.
Everyone being watched can see exactly who is watching them, and can remove any lookout from the People tab. You never need the other person's permission, and they are not told. Removal takes effect when it reaches the server, normally within moments, and from then on that person stops seeing your walks, including one that is happening right now. If your phone cannot reach the server, the app says the removal did not go through rather than showing it as done.
Accounts used to track a person covertly, or to harass someone, will be terminated.
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in details secure. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13.
Your walks, dog profiles, photos and places are yours. You give Wickd Smart LLC only the permission needed to store them, show them to the people you shared them with, and operate the service. Your content is not used for anything else, and it is never sold.
Distances, routes, pace and times are estimates derived from your phone's GPS. They are frequently wrong by meaningful margins, under trees, between tall buildings, or with a poor signal, and must not be relied on for anything that matters.
Walka Talka is free. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase and no advertising. I may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, and may impose limits on use, without notice. The service is provided as is, and I do not promise it will be available or uninterrupted.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Walka Talka is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, and Wickd Smart LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app, including any failure to deliver a notification or to record a walk. Wickd Smart LLC's total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. If you share a household with other people, that household stays with them when you go: it keeps its saved places and its completed walks. The walks you took stay in its log as walks by a former member, without your name, their routes or the places they stopped at. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what deletion removes. I may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
